Week 8 Part A

 Comparative Instagram Hashtag Review

IATSE 122 - iatse.122.official / iatse.122.yw

IATSE 122 makes effective use of Instagram using two accounts for different demographics. The majority of their hashtags are related to unions, stagecraft, and labor (#unionstrong, #iatse, #solidarity, #behindthescenes). They have 1,012 followers for their official account and 479 followers for their young worker account; with only 420 members. They tend to post bi-weekly to each account with similar content. The last post was on 3/19/2021. Their best reacted to content tends to be videos of events and personal photos; the more candid the better. They do a good job getting responses getting approximately 1 like per 20 followers per post. The majority of responses are likes or views, they have few comments.

I would suggest having less structured content and more videos. Many of their most responded to posts are candid personal shots of members doing activities and events. Their videos tend to also draw strong reactions. An update of possible hashtags includes; #workers, #workersrights, #respect, and #workingclass.

IBEW 569 - ibew_569

IBEW 569 makes fairly effective use of Instagram. The majority of their hashtags are related to unions, electricians, and labor (#unionstrong, #ibew, #bluecollar, #local569). They have 2,974 followers for their official account. They tend to post bi-weekly. The last post was on 3/24/2021. Their best reacted to content tends to be member group and personal photos; the more candid the better. They have almost no videos. They do a good job getting responses getting approximately 1 like per 30 followers per post. The majority of responses are likes or views, they have few comments.

I would suggest having less structured content and more videos. Many of their most responded to posts are candid personal shots of members doing activities and events. An update of possible hashtags includes; #workers, #workersrights, #respect, and #solidarity.

Show Imaging - showimaging

Show Imaging makes fairly effective use of Instagram. The majority of their hashtags are related to hybrid and virtual events and their company (#virtualevents, #showimaging, #greenscreen, #broadcast). They have 1,979 followers for their official account. They tend to post monthly plus special events. The last post was on 2/25/2021. Their best reacted to content tends to be event videos and production photos; the more candid the better. They do a reasonable job getting responses getting approximately 1 like per 40 followers per post. The majority of responses are likes or views, they have few comments.

I would suggest having less structured content and more videos. Many of their most responded to posts are candid production shots and event videos. They would benefit from more hashtags directly related to the events in question to drive commercial views. An update of possible hashtags includes; #entertainment, #tradeshow, #hybridevents, #convention.

Freeman Event Technology - freemancompany

Freeman is fairly ineffectual on Instagram. They utilze very few hashtags since they are such a large company with many departments but a single Instagram account (#hybridevents). They have 3,022 followers for their official account. They tend to post 3x per week, but mostly incongruous posts with no theme. The last post was on 3/24/2021. Their best reacted to content tends to be informational posts, and event videos. They get very few responses; approximately 1 like per 60 followers per post. The majority of responses are likes or views, they have almost no comments.

I would suggest having more structured, informational content and more production videos. Many of their most responded to posts are informational posts and event videos. They would benefit from more hashtags directly related to the events in question to drive commercial views. An update of possible hashtags includes; #entertainment, #tradeshow, #virtualevents, #convention, and #marketers.

Encore Global - encore_global

Encore Global is fairly ineffectual on Instagram. They utilize very few hashtags since they are such a large company with a single Instagram account (#hybridevents, #events, #marketers). They have 771 followers for their official account. They are a global company, but are in the middle of a complete rebranding. Since they are completely rebranding, you would think social media would be even more important. They tend to post 2x per week, but mostly incongruous posts with no theme. The last post was on 3/19/2021. Their best reacted to content tends to be event videos, and event attendee pics. They do a good job getting responses; approximately 1 like per 30 followers per post. The majority of responses are likes or views, they have almost no comments.

I would suggest having more rebranding pics, candid event photos, and event videos. Many of their most responded to posts are event photos and videos. They would benefit from more hashtags directly related to the events in question to drive commercial views. People like to see themselves and share their photos. An update of possible hashtags includes; #entertainment, #tradeshow, and #virtualevents, #convention.
