Week 9 Part A
Adding a Personal Touch
People are scared of new things. People don’t like using
products they don’t know or understand. Personal stories can be a great way to
introduce people to new products by appealing to their emptions.
A “how-to” blog or vlog can introduce people to a new
product. A “how-to” post can be even more effective by showcasing individuals
that are also new to the product. Think of old infomercials. They would almost
always have a host that was “inexperienced” with the product and a host that
was the expert. The expert would show the “novice” how to use the product and
it would appeal to the average person. Your blog can do the same.
Case studies can appeal directly to people, the more genuine
the better. People like to read about real product experiences. People read
reviews on Amazon, Yelp, TripAdvisor, and RateMyProfessors. Blogging can be an
easy and curated way to provide your own reviews. Real customer reviews provided
as blogs or vlogs can help inspire trust and understanding about your products
and services. Most people understand that reviews are curated and controlled.
That doesn’t stop them from reading them. Sincerity does matter though. Reviews
should be real. They should be allowed to have some flaws, they don’t need to
be perfect, but they should be positive.
For AES we should use case studies about our products as
well stories about audience response systems in general. Presentations generally
make most people nervous. Adding layers and things that presenters have to do
makes them even more nervous. Using personal stories from real presenters about
how easy and beneficial our product offerings can be could really drive
business. Tons of studies show that audience response systems improve
presentations by driving audience engagement and retention. The best audience
response systems are easy to use and make presentations easier for presenters
by helping to drive their presentations to their audience’s interests. Personal
success stories could be instrumental in driving revenues.
Hey John,
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree with you that people rather have a genuine experience when it really comes to anything. More and more people are preferring for those experiences because it gives people a chance to somehow connect which is something we all try to do.
Finding the right way to connect with your target audience can be difficult. The personal touch and relating experiences, I feel, is a good way to close that gap.
ReplyDeleteHey John,
ReplyDeleteSo true people love reading reviews on products and services, I know for myself that anything I am going to purchase I look at the reviews. I actually look at the worst reviews first and then I look at the good reviews to make decisions. But sincerity in the reviews is what is even more important then a glowing review.
I really enjoyed your perspective on this subject, especially the reference to old infomercials. I don't write the blog posts on my husband's site and I personally feel like they are disconnected from the reader. I hope to direct him into making the posts more relatable.
ReplyDeleteWow, thanks for this. I never really thought about how the presenter of the product may be more comfortable and confident speaking about personal experience rather than making the presentation more complicated than it needs to be, and this could make the audience more confident in the products as well.
